Last year, Nissan’s Concept 2020 Vison Gran Turismo was made available to gamers everywhere to drive virtually. Now, Nissan has confirmed that the same Gran Turismo concept is set to make a real-life debut later this month at the Tokyo auto show. The current GT-R is also beginning to show its age, so it’s a no-brainer that this concept hints at what we can expect from the next-generation GT-R.

This isn’t pure speculation; last year when the digital concept was released Nissan made it clear that this wasn’t just a design exercise, stating “This is a look at what a high performance supercar from Nissan may look like in the future”. The latest rumors suggest that the next GT-R will almost certainly be a hybrid, using some combination of the current GT-Rs 550hp 3.8L turbo-charged V6. For my own personal amusement, I’m hoping to see the 1.5l three-cylinder turbo-charged motor currently powering their disastrous front-wheel-drive ZEOD RC LeMans car. What a wonderfully terrible idea.

Nissan’s sure to keep us waiting for the next Nissan GT-R, but one thing is for sure, if it looks anything like this we won’t be disappointed.
