The concept of chassis stiffness is often misunderstood.

Sticky tires, stiff suspension and aerodynamics are all fairly easy to wrap your head around, but as a car gets faster more pressure is placed on the chassis that ties everything together. Manufactures cut corners using spot welding to keep costs down, but doing so allows for more flex .That flex causes alignment settings and suspension geometry to change mid-corner making the car feel loose and unsettled. I’ll let chassis engineer Joey Seely take it from here, as he does a fantastic job explaining how to tie everything together.
