How much horsepower is a Top Fuel engine capable of?
The Top Fuel and Funny Car NHRA categories are considered to be the pinnacle of drag racing, being at the forefront of technology, just to get an idea, these cars don’t even have gearboxes, just a pack of clutches that get fused together after just one run. Due to this fact, the car cannot be run on a dyno. But with some electronic and mathematical wizardry, it can be done.
A decade ago, the 7000 horsepower ballpark was a decent power number, but now, things have changed, Top Fuel engines now producing over 10000 horsepower.
While Drag racing may seem simplistic to some, it’s actually a really complex sport, where vehicles are taken to the limit in a unique way.
