Stephan Papadakis is building a race ready 2AR Toyota engine, and it’s amazing.

You might be thinking; isn’t that basically the same engine found in a Camry?

You’d be technically right, but there are a myriad of modifications that go into turning this unit into a fully fledged racing engine. The cylinders are sleeved and stronger main studs are fitted. New crankshaft bearings are in order as well. JE Pistons 10.5:1 compression pistons are installed, as well as a Supertech Performance valvetrain, heads from Portflow Design cylinder headwork . Fuel delivery is taken care of by an Infinity EMS, UEGO gauge controller, Universal fuel regulator ,a 25-201 fuel filter, and Injector Dynamics 2,000 cc fuel injectors.

A Borg Warner EFR 8374 turbocharger provides a healthy dose of boost, while a couple of TiAL 38 mm MV-S wastegates are tasked to keep the boost pressure in check

Torco SR-5 5W40 motor oil keeps this 4 cylinder 2AR Toyota engine lubricated and clean to deliver over a 1000 horsepower.
