Mercedes set to end AMG Sport lineup? Not quite.
The German Manufacturer will be terminating the AMG Sport line from Mercedes-Benz, but before we panic, this doesn’t mean the models will cease to exist.
Actually, the lineup will be rebadged and moved up one tier into the AMG range.
Filling the level gab between themselves and their competitors Audi and BMW with the RS and M lineups respectively, was the launch of the C450 AMG Sport followed by the GLE450 AMG Sport.
They also used their 3 liter V6 in the SL400 without an AMG badge and the new Mercedes AMG SLC43 has this engine as well.
AMG Sport models will be rebadged as AMG models, Car and Driver reports.
The C450 AMG Sport will now have the Mercedes-AMG C43 badge and name, the GLE450 AMG Sport might follow a similar procedure.
Competitive business strategy is a tricky thing; we will see how these changes affect Mercedes in the future.
