Should you power a dashcam form the OBD port?

Word on the street says you can power a dashboard camera from your OBD or OBD 2 port, but should you do this?

Let’s consider the advantages: you use a pre made adapter that powers your dashcam without needing batteries, it’s a compact setup and one that is quite literally plug and play.
