This is the best motivational video a car guy needs, to start working on his passion. For those of you that don’t know, Sam Schmidt was a professional racer in the Indianapolis 500, where he raced 3 consecutive times and won from the pole, at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 1999. During his off season while he was testing and preparing for the 2000 season, he crashed at Walt Disney World Speedway, and this accident rendered him paraplegic.
Some time has passed now, and Sam never lost his passion for cars and races, today he got to drive in a 2014 Corvette Stingray specially modified, in order for Schmidt to drive it. This Corvette Stingray was modified earlier in the day by, Arrow Electronics Semi-Autonomous Motorcar (SAM) Project’s. Might seem impossible, but with today’s technology you can achieve even the most unthinkable. Sam can accelerate by blowing into a tub and braking by sucking the air from that tube, and he also steers the car with the help of some 3D glasses. As he turns his head, the car turns in the same direction. Pretty amazing what technology and determination can achieve. Sam should be seen as motivation for all the car guys that want to start their project car, there might be a million excuses, but always remember, where there’s a will there’s a way.
