The eagerly awaited, Mazda Miata based Fiat 124 Spider has been revealed, and we finally know the details about the re-designed and Italian influenced roadster.
The 124 Spider predictably retains much of the existing Miata, including it’s suspension, interior, and several body panels. The only dramatic change is the engine. Out goes the naturally aspirated 2.0 litre, and in goes the turbo-charged 1.4 litre from the Fiat 500 Abarth that’s good for 160hp and 184ft-lbs of torque.
Like the Miata, it can be paired with either a 6 speed manual, or automatic gearbox
So there you have it folks; 2 more horsepower, an increase of 36 ft-lbs of torque, and arguably questionable styling. No word on pricing yet, but expect it, the Fiat 124 Spider cost a good bit more than your standard Miata.
