The demand for high displacement Mercedes AMG engines is as big as the monstrous power plants themselves.
The rise has been such that production of twin turbocharged V12`s has been transferred to Mannheim, at a Daimler facility.
AMG’s headquarters will continue to make V8 engines, expanding their capacity.
The V12 AMG engines made by AMG usually power the S65, S65 Coupe, and SL65.
This increase in production seems odd, especially in an ever downsize focused automotive market, with most companies shunning engine s with over eight cylinders in favor of smaller, lighter units.
Even in an ever miniaturization driven world, AMG shows us that there is still a place for hand built, high displacement engines.
We can only speculate if any other German manufacturers will experience a similar raise in production demand, and whether or not this trend of high demand for big engines will continue in Europe.
