Have you ever tried to get a 2015 Mustang to the top of the Empire State Building ?
Well, that needs lots of creative thinking and creative work and for this Ford Mustang on its 50th birthday throwback a classic ’64 publicity stunt and elevated a sleek new pony car to the building’s 86th floor observation deck.Did you know that?
The Ford team collaborated with Romulus, Michigan-based DST Industries which was the same company that helped implementing on the classic project in ’65! Sometimes the old technologies are still usable so that’s why Ford and DST decided to use the same method ,to chop it up!
To execute this plan the Ford team measured elevators & doors in the building and they also used a scale model Mustang to plan cut lines. Two Mustang prototypes were used for,the first one was used by technicians to make the cuts.Carts were then custom built for the body sections, then loaded up and placed in a mockup of the smallest of the 3 elevators the car bits would have to ride in. The sections were then weighed & crews practiced assembling them, pit crew style.
After all the things that now are fixed thanks magnificent work, the glory triple yellow Mustang will be on the top of the Empire State today coinciding with the 2014 New York Auto Show. This impressive show will only last till 2 a.m. April 18,and then it will be disassembled & removed.
