When you purchase a used car, particularly an older used car, one of the first things you should always do is change out the fluids. At the very least, you should change the oil. This Ford Model A is a perfect example of why.
For some reason, the owner of this car didn’t think to check or change the oil right away and actually got the car running. Bad idea. Lucky for him, his buddy told him to change it out before going any further. After realizing that the oil was moving like molasses when he tried to drain it, he decided to remove the oil pan. And what’d he find? Brownie batter, not surprisingly.
The Model A was built from 1927 to 1931, and if this particular car hadn’t been used in 50 years, it’s understandable that the oil was in this type of condition. After sitting for a long time, oil will start to degrade and become more viscous. It’s also possible that condensation can form and mix in with the oil. Both results can damage an engine.
