With the release of the new line of motorcycles Lotus just sent the first one up for auction and is reported to go on auction later this week.This exotic looking motorcycle is designed by the one and only Daniel Simon.Simon is worldly known for his iconic Hollywood motorcycle including “Lightcycle” which is the motorcycle from Tron Legacy as well as the motorcycle from “Bubbleship” which was used by Tom Cruise.Simon has a bad habit of making things go extremely fast.And this habit applies to the C-01 Lotus aswell the only production motorcycle made by Lotus.The first price for the motorcycle was set at $137.000 US dollars but with 100 units being made the price is expected to go up to $370.000-$450.000.The auction will take place at Pebble beach.Simon also said:
“With the Lotus C-01, we have only one ambition: to create a unique state-of-the-art machine that carries its brutal forces with elegance and style, a high-tech monster in a tailored suit. The C-01, with all its top notch components and materials, is first and foremost emotional, heartbreaking, at times playfully retro, and always clearly a Lotus. Lotus is a glamorous name with a rich history, and the C-01 celebrates it proudly: the shapes of the marvelous Lotus 49 were a main inspiration, and all color schemes pay homage to iconic Lotus racing liveries, such as the dashing black and gold. The intersection of past and future always fascinates, and so does the unique idea of the C-01.”
Under the hood is a 200hp TM-sourced 1.2 liter V-twin which is borrowed from the RC8R superbike.This kind of power requires also big brakes and numerous other specs.The bike has 380mm Brembo racing brakes,twin Ohlins rear shocks,and two almost full carbon fiber wheels,which are housed within an aerospace-grade stainless steel frame.These are some other specs that the bike houses:
