He loves to talk about the amazing engineering behind his Hypercar, and we sure love to hear him talk about them. The Koenigsegg Regera gets its power from a twin-turbo V-8, and from three electric motors and battery power, to produce a total of 1500 horses. It also has a new hybrid powertrain technology, called Koenigsegg Direct Drive, invented by Christian von Koenigsegg himself and developed for the Regera Hypercar by the Koenigsegg Advanced Engineering team, which tosses aside the traditional gearbox. Instead of the traditional transmission, the system uses the e-motors and a hydraulic clutch-slip mechanism, to manage power delivery without the weight of a traditional transmission.
