Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise: we are currently living in the greatest time ever, to be a car enthusiast. That’s because the performance today’s modern hyper-cars is utterly insane: we literally had to invent a new word to describe the current crop of road legal rocket ships.
It would be fair to argue that today’s hypercars started with the unveiling of the Bugatti Veyron nearly a decade ago.
Since then, hybrids have taken over, active aero has become popular, dual-clutch transmissions are virtually standard and our appetite for carbon fiber has only grown. Today, that’s resulted in road-going monsters such as the McLaren P1, the Ferrari LaFerrari, the Porsche 918, and a lesser known favourite, the Pagani Huayra. Several heros brought all these cars together, along with the legendary Veyron to test hypercars the only way they can be tested – lap times.
